On November 22, 2024, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) sponsored an educational orientation on crop and livestock insurance at the Kabuhayan Center in Mandaue City, Cebu. The event aimed to enhance MAVENCO personnel’s knowledge and understanding of the various insurance products offered by PCIC for farmers and livestock producers.

The orientation program was led by key PCIC employees, including Mr. Arnold Mondoyo, Acting Insurance Underwriter, and Miss Daisy Mae C. Diaz, Acting Claims Processor. Their combined expertise was crucial to the event’s success, providing valuable insights into how insurance can protect local agricultural stakeholders from a range of risks.

Key Highlights from the Orientation:
Swine Insurance Coverage
Claims Process and Procedures
Livestock Insurance for Other Species
Government Support and Financial Assistance
Strengthening Collaboration and Future Prospects

The orientation was a significant step toward strengthening the relationship between PCIC and MAVENCO, both of whom are committed to improving the resilience of Cebu’s agriculture and livestock sectors. The program provided MAVENCO professionals with crucial knowledge about insurance coverage, ensuring they are better prepared to assist local farmers and animal producers in safeguarding their interests.

This collaboration is especially important at a time when the agricultural sector faces an increasing number of challenges, including unpredictable weather patterns and rising disease threats. By understanding and effectively implementing insurance products, MAVENCO personnel can play a key role in helping local producers manage risk and sustain their operations.
